Cheltenham and the Local Area Cheltenham Cheltenham has a style and atmosphere all of its own. The style comes from its fashionable lifestyle, Regency architecture and wide tree-lined streets. The atmosphere comes from the people, the stores and the leisure and entertainment provision. Add the different festivals and you’ve a rich, exciting and vibrant place to be. The presence of such a concentration of predominantly young people also helps support a lively economic community. The range of clubs, restaurants and stores is large and varied, and wider than the town’s population might suggest, Cheltenham offers some of the benefits of big city living, in the elegant confines of a smaller town. While it’s only a 15 minute walk to the town centre, there are a good range of facilities even closer to The Park than that. The Bath Road provides a wide range of stores – including two supermarkets, several other food stores, off licences, book stores, newsagents and stationers. There are a number of banks, cafés and restaurants, plus pubs and a post office. Around Cheltenham Cheltenham is the gateway to the Cotswolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Park offers easy access to bath town and country life. Whether you’re looking for lively nightlife, outdoor sporting activities, a ramble around our historical landmarks or a cream tea in the Cotswolds, you’ll find it all within easy reach. The main centres of Gloucester and Cheltenham are only 10 miles (16 kilometres) apart, with most students dropping in regularly to sample the bars, clubs and restaurants. The attractions of London, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham and Oxford
are all easily accessible via the M5 and M40 and by rail. For those
who fancy a visit to Shakespeare’s county, whether to catch the
world-famous Royal Shakespeare Company in theatre, or to spend a day
messing about in boats on the river, Stratford-upon-Avon is only 45
minutes away. |
