What kind of jobs do graduated get?

Past students have landed a wide variety of jobs in commercial organizations such as advertising, computer- based learning, programming and marketing. Employers include blue chip companies such as Intel, Accenture and HP as well as smaller niche market providers of multimedia content. Some have gone on to take teaching qualifications or research posts. We encourage students to create updateable , web- based portfolios of their work which helps persuade employers that their skills are current, relevant and immediately useful. Each year, in may we invite potential employers to a Multimedia Exhibition where students run professional quality stands. This has attracted sponsorship from organizations such as Gloucestershire Media, and provided great networking opportunities for career development.

How will I learn about technical subjects?

We provide online- support for all our modules and use multimedia to help you learn both creative and technical aspects of the subject. Video tutorials are very popular as students can repeat them at their own pace whenever they need to. Students upload their work to a server which is then used for interactive critique sessions, making each week engaging and interesting.

Do you have to be artistic to study media?

Not necessarily- although it helps to appreciate visual design and how it can be combined with audio and animation to create a richer experience. Technical skills such as scripting are also useful to allow your product to be appreciated by as wide an audience as possible. Project management and people skills are important too as, even at level1, you will work in a team for a client.
